My Skiing Journey

Having parents that both grew up in very warm areas, I became a first generation skier.  It was something my mom knew she wanted to have her children try, as our backyard was filled with snow capped mountains.  Unlike most other kids in my area (who started skiing at the age of 2) I started skiing a bit “later” in life at the rightful age of 6.  Anyone who has ever skied before will tell you that it is by no means an easy sport to learn.  It requires patience, balance, and passion, all things that my kindergarten self lacked.  It really was not until my middle school years that I developed my real passion and obsession with the sport.  Every chance I had, I was in the mountains.  I loved everything about skiing.  As I approached high school, I realized that there was more that I wanted to do with my passion,  I wanted to help others experience the joy skiing had brought to me.  This led me to becoming and instructor.  Today I am an instructor to a variety of children.  I teach children from underprivileged communities  and individuals with mental and physical disabilities how to ski.  All free of charge.  I want to help make the world a better place, and this is my contribution to the world of skiing.
